The Christian Worldview Series:

Should Christians Kill Their Enemies?
A Study of Conditional Love.......comments? BLOG

We talk about the Christian Worldview and are zealous to present the Gospel to a lost and hurting world, but we need to put ourselves in the place of the world and see what their view of Christianity may be. There are many people in the world that are thoroughly familiar with the Bible, but they don't come to Christ because what they see Christians do does not portray what Jesus says in the scriptures.

We call ourselves Christians, but we refuse to forgive our enemies, yet we expect God to forgive us. We war and kill our enemies to protect our possessions, our standard of living and our lives, yet we call ourselves disciples of Jesus Christ

We want to return America to Judeo-Christian principles. But we don't seem to understand that that America was founded on the principles of Old Testament Law, not on the principles of Christianity. To understand this, we need to examine the term Judeo-Christian and the related term The Separation of Church and State.

Judeo-Christian Principles
Judaism and Christianity have a common heritage, but Judaism and Christianity are different from each other. Judaism is based on the Old Testament, and Christianity is based on the New Testament.

The principles of the Old Testament are based on trying to observe all the Ten Commandments - the Law. The principle of Christianity is based on bearing the Fruits of the Holy Spirit as Jesus taught in the Beatitudes. Thus fulfilling the Law and Commandments written in our heart by loving God and loving our neighbor as Christ loved us- Mercy.

Jesus illustrated this when he said: "Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth (quoting Leviticus: 24) But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also."(Matthew 5:38)

And when the woman caught in adultery was brought before Jesus, she was going to be stoned according to the Law.

"And the scribes and Pharisees bring to him a woman caught in adultery, and placing her in the midst, They say to him, Master, this woman was caught in the very act, while she was committing adultery. Now in the law Moses commanded us to stone such persons; but what sayest thou? Now they said this, trying him, that they might have ground for accusing him. But Jesus, casting down his eyes, wrote with the finger on the ground. And as they persisted in asking him, he lifted up his eyes, and said to them, He who is without sin amongst you, let him first cast a stone at her. And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground. And having heard that, and being reproved by their conscience, they went out one by one, beginning at the eldest even to the last; so that Jesus was left alone, and the woman who stood in the midst. And Jesus, lifting up his eyes, having seen nobody but the woman, said to her, Woman, where are thy accusers? Hath no man condemned thee? She said, No man, Lord. Jesus answered her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more." (John 8:3-11). Mercy overlooks the transgressions of the Law. God does not hold our transgressions against us.

Separation of Church and State
Obviously Jesus and his servants were not of the Kingdom of the World. They were of another Kingdom, The Kingdom of God. The Kingdom of the World is the State. The Kingdom of God is the Church. God works through the State to administer Justice and Judgement. He works through the Church to administer Love, Grace and Mercy.

The Separation of Church and State is much more than the state keeping its nose out of the church, and the church doing likewise. Separation of Church and State is about how God operates differently through two Kingdoms. He operates with Old Testament Law and Justice through the Citizens of the Kingdom of the State, and He operates With New Testament Love, Grace and Mercy through Christians, the Citizens of The Kingdom of God.

Christians have been translated into the Kingdom of God. We are now its citizens. We are no longer citizens of the World. We are ambassadors to the world with full authority of Jesus who rules us from Heaven. The Kingdom of God is above the Kingdom of The State. It is higher than the law and fulfills the Law because Mercy is above Justice. "For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath showed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment." (James 2:13).

Love one another.
